Good news for Matt Lanter fans: While 90210 may be saying farewell this week, Matt won’t be leaving our TV screens (or The CW) anytime soon! His new series Star-Crossed — formerly titled Oxygen — was officially picked up to series May 9, and he recently gave HollywoodLife.com the scoop on what the sci-fi thriller is all about.
“It’s kind of like Brown Vs. The Board of Education, with aliens, mixed with an epic romance,” Matt explained, fully aware of how strange his explanation sounded. “You’re going to have all these human rights issues we dealt with as a society 50-something years ago, but you’re dealing with it between humans and aliens.”
Star-Crossed will take place in the future, where aliens live in their own segregated community, and Matt happens to play one of those aliens. Things get complicated — to say the least — when his character, Roman, falls in love in with human-girl Emery (Aimee Teegarden).
“The pilot is all about a government program to desegregate the two species, and it starts in an American high school,” Matt continued. “On top of all that, you have this forbidden romance [between Roman and Emery.] It’s kind of like a Romeo & Juliet story. It’s the star-crossed lovers that can’t be, and shouldn’t be, but have to be.”
Wow! a huge congrats to Matt who was offered (and accepted) the role on a new CW pilot called “Oxygen”
Matt will play Roman, one of nine aliens (Orion 9) who are secretly integrated into a suburban high school,
who falls in love with Emery after he befriends her while escaping authorities 10 years prior.
Emery will be played by ‘Friday Night Lights’ actress Aimee Teegarden
I’ve seen some comments from fans saying it sounds like a show that used to air called Rosewell.
I never watched Rosewell so I’m not sure if it sounds the same or not.

In case you have been living under a rock this week or just haven’t had time to log onto the computer I have some
very sad news. The CW has announced that it does not plan on bringing 90210 back for a 6th season. This news came within the last few days of filming the seasons finale for season 5 which will now also be the series finale. I am heart broken
but we just have to think we were lucky enough to have 90210 for 5 fantastic seasons.
The cast and crew held their finale party last night.
Click on the photos below to view more photos from the party.
Thank you 90210 for 5 fantastic seasons.
All the fans appreciate all the hard work you have all put into making a fantastic show.
Matt wants you to wear purple on September 21st for Alzheimer’s action day.
“My Grandmother suffers from Alzheimer’s, so it’s very close to me and I see not only the effects of the disease on her but also how it affects the family, how the relationships change and you lose that person even while they’re sitting in front of you.” – Matt Lanter
Matt Lanter, Gillian Zinser, Torrance Coombs and Sara Paxton will star in the psychological thriller Liars All, written and directed by Brian Brightly. The indie production is scheduled to begin filming Monday in L.A.
Alice Evans, Tiffany Mulheron and Randy Wayne also appear in the story of a group of friends celebrating New Year’s Eve in London by playing a provocative game that ultimately gets terribly out of control.
Jeffrey Allard of Indie Entertainment is producing along with Joey Carey of Sundial Pictures. Stefan Nowicki of Sundial, Alex Sagalchik of Mott Street Pictures and Kevin Iwashina and Ross Dinerstein of Preferred Content are serving as executive producers.
Preferred Content will handle North American sales of the film, while Cinema Management Group will shepherd foreign sales at Cannes.
Repped by WME and Emerald Talent Group, Lanter has appeared recently in The Roommate, Vampires Suck and Sorority Row. He is also a regular on the CW series 90210.
Repped by Suskin Management, Zinser is a regular on 90210.
Coombs, who is repped by D2 Management, appeared in a recurring role on the Showtime series The Tudors.
Repped by UTA and Stein Entertainment Group, Paxton has recently appeared in the films The Innkeepers, The Last House on the Left and Superhero Movie.
